Ouddorp beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Netherlands. Visitors appreciate the expansive and peaceful character of Ouddorp beach. Furthermore, the beach is suitable for sunbathers, as well as for water sports enthusiasts. The North Sea beach of Ouddorp is just over seventeen kilometers long. In some places, Ouddorp beach is several hundred meters wide, providing plenty of space for many tourists.
Ouddorp borders not only the North Sea, but also Lake Grevelingen. Generally speaking, day-trippers and tourists head to the North Sea beach, while families with young children more often choose Lake Grevelingen. A day trip to Ouddorp at the beach can therefore also be at a different location.
In 2007, Ouddorp beach was voted Best Beach Resort in the Netherlands by readers of the Algemeen Dagblad.
The sunbather would do best to go to the beach at Vrijheidsweg. Here you will find not only a nice beach, but also various trendy beach clubs, such as Paal 10. Furthermore, this beach has a large parking lot with space for hundreds of cars.
The family with children would be better off going to Lake Grevelingen beach in Ouddorp. Drive to Visitor Center de Grevelingen (De Punt 4), where you can park your car. Lake Grevelingen is the ideal place for families. The lake slopes very gradually, so children don't suddenly end up in a deep spot. Furthermore, there is less current and the water is much clearer. Also, the water in Lake Grevelingen warms up faster, making it more pleasant to spend time there in early summer.
The nature lover would do best to go to the beach at Oostdijk (Hondsweg, Oostdijk) in Ouddorp. First you walk for fifteen minutes through a beautiful nature area (Meinderswaal, but locally known as the 'Water Extraction Area') with small streams, heath and cows. Then you reach a pristine stretch of beach with hardly any visitors. This beach is also a nice place to let your dog off the leash.
The water sports enthusiast in Ouddorp naturally goes to Brouwersdam beach. Not only is there a large beach club here (Natural High), but there are also the highest waves for kitesurfing, kite buggying or land sailing.
